Thank you for your interest in the role of Chair/Trustee. We are at an exciting stage of development, with a need for our big aspirations to be underpinned by ambitious guidance and leadership. We want you to help us develop our fantastic charity and be excited by the potential here, as this is what led me to join the organisation myself.
To be at the start of a new national charity’s journey is a huge privilege and one which began as the brainchild of Professor Peter Giannoudis, one of the world’s leading trauma surgeons. His commitment to this is inspirational, and you can hear more of his thoughts about the role and organisation in the video below. Hopefully you will see the passion, energy and enthusiasm he has for this cause – a cause which is relatively simple: to provide ongoing care and support to victims of trauma. Whilst the embryo of this charity begins in Leeds, we do not limit ourselves to geography - we see linkages developing with other major trauma centres across the country in pursuit of our shared vision, and this part of the journey has in fact already started. Our story is not entirely new – we currently operate as a linked charity to ‘Leeds Cares’ but to achieve our vision of becoming a national charity, Day One now needs to delink and become independent its own right.
This brings many challenges, not least around governance, and we therefore need a Chair who can bring expertise and experience, along with Trustees who bring an inquisitive mindset and genuine enthusiasm for creating something from scratch. If this sounds like you we would love to hear from you.
